It’s Friday, December 12, 2008, 13 days before Christmas, and I’m wondering how I’m going to make it. How I’m going to make it without gaining between 5-10 lbs. I’m not exercising (you can’t count my walk to work since I live across the street; you can’t count playing with and chasing my grandson around the house since I get tired pretty quickly). And since the night before Thanksgiving I’m been at at least 6 special celebrations that included large amounts of food. You see, both my wife and daughters have birthdays in this month and my middle son returned from a year away in Asia. There is a lot to celebrate, but I need a way to look at myself in January without needing extra pants for new growth. I’d much rather have some new spiritual growth. What can i do besides fasting after every party and staying away from scales. I don’t have a sure answer, but I know that I’m not alone. You and your children might face the same battle of putting on unnecessary lbs. (I do think some lbs. are necessary, and I really enjoy eating).
So let’s pray that our spiritual growth outweighs our physical expansion. Here are a couple of websites that give healthy tips for the great gift of food and eating: www.mealsmatter.org and www.foodnetwork.com which has a healthy eating section.
